El Nido Resorts recently participated in the Asia Regional Forum on Biodiversity held in Cha-am, Petchaburi, Thailand from November 3-4, 2011. The forum aimed to underline the critical role of the business sector in the sustainable management of biodiversity, with delegates from all over Asia participating in the said event. Representative Lorrima C. de Dios, one of the resorts’ Environmental Officers, was one of the speakers at the forum. She gave a short presentation showcasing the resorts’ best practices on biodiversity conservation as well as community relations.
The two-day event was designed to raise awareness among stakeholders and to link the promotion of business activities with biodiversity conservation by showcasing the best practices of various businesses, government agencies, educational institutions, and international organizations. The forum was based on a strong participatory approach in order for participants to define the requirements and plans as far as possible, including the participation of a wide representation of stakeholders. Action plans were designed so that participants would meet their requirements and plans based on these inputs.
