El Nido Resorts Environment Department held its annual Nature Interpretation training for the Marine Sports Guides and Guest Activity Coordinators (GACs) of Miniloc, Lagen, Apulit, and the soon-to-open Pangulasian Island Resorts last July 28-August 8 and August 14-16, 2012. The first two days consisted of lectures and quizzes on Palawan, El Nido, Taytay, and the terrestrial and marine flora and fauna of El Nido and Taytay. Day 3 consisted of an introduction to nature interpretation and role-playing scenarios. A culminating field trip was held on Day 4, where the guides and activity coordinators visited the activity areas, practiced their nature interpretation skills, and played fun environment-related games organized by Environmental Officers (EOs) Macy Anonuevo, Kristine Soriano, and Mavic Doctor. The top scorers overall and per subject received medals and badges prepared by the EOs.

Investing in nature interpretation training is in line with ENR’s goal of increasing our guests’ knowledge of and appreciation for Palawan’s unique environment. With their knowledge gained from the nature interpretation training, our guides and activity coordinators can better serve as ambassadors for Palawan and environmental conservation.
