El Nido Resorts celebrated “WTM World Responsible Tourism Day” for the second time last November 25, 2012.
The activities started in the morning, with guests and staff from Miniloc, Lagen, and Pangulasian Resorts volunteering in coastal and underwater cleanups in and around their islands. After cleaning up, volunteers were rewarded with a scrumptious buffet lunch at Dibuluan Beach Club and a small souvenir bag to thank them for their efforts.
Their next stop was Dagal-Dagal, where they toured the Materials Recovery Facility and got their hands dirty sorting out some of the trash they collected.
The day ended with a beach jam at Entalula Beach Club, featuring local artists Rej and Mike, as well as the Miniloc Island Band.
A total of 97.2 kg of trash was collected, with plastics as the most abundant.
